Paul Norman Cochran, born October 12, 1939, in Arthur, Iowa, to Oscar B. and Ruth (Benson) Cochran, passed away on February 27th, 2026, in Menahga, Minnesota. He was one of seven children and had a great deal of love and respect for his mother Ruth.
Paul graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1958, where he played numerous sports. Following high school, he served honorably in the United States Army until retiring in 1978. During his military service, Paul was deployed to Vietnam in 1968, was stationed in California, Germany, Hawaii, and New Jersey.
In 1969, Paul met Doris (Garman) Clymer while she was attending beauty school. The two were united in marriage July 20, 1970. After retiring from the Army, Paul and Doris made a bold move by purchasing 200 hundred acres near Menahga, Minnesota—sight unseen—and relocating their family there. Two years later, they settled on their current farm where Paul took up dairy farming.
Paul found joy in visiting family, fishing, gardening, sports, home projects and feeding his birds and cats. He and Doris also cherished Friday evenings spent with friends and neighbors playing cards and engaging in lively discussions about life’s many challenges.
Paul is preceded in death by his mother Ruth (Benson) Christensen, son Patrick Micheal Cochran and sisters: Colleen, Joy, Carol; and brother-in-law Bill Quintus.
Paul will be remembered by his wife of 56 years Doris; children: Robert (Susan) Cochran, Sherri (Jon) Korfe, and Raymond (Lisa) Cochran; sister Dot Quintus;10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Paul’s life was marked by dedication to family, country, and a love for the outdoors. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
