Norman Breitenfeldt Obituary

Norman Dennis Breitenfeldt was born on April 12, 1935, in Perham, Minnesota. His parents were the late Edwin and Luella (Brasel) Breitenfeldt.  Norman was Baptized on May 5, 1935, and Confirmed on April 10, 1949, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Corliss Township, rural Perham, Minnesota. He graduated from Perham High School with the class of 1953.

Norman served honorably in the United State Armed Forces from March 10, 1954, to March 2, 1956. On July 7, 1956, Norman was united in marriage with Luella Marie Ziegler at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Perham, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with a son, Rodney.

Norman and Luella made their home in Minneapolis for a short time where Norman was employed with RC Hitchcock Industries where they produced high quality castings for the aerospace and defense industries. In the fall of 1958 Norman and Luella moved to their farm in the rural Menahga area where they Dairy Farmed in Corliss and Butler Township.  In October of 2023 they retired and moved to New York Mills.

Norman has been a lifelong member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church where he served on various boards.  He was a member of the Wolf Lake Horseshoe Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

On March 1, 2026, Norman passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls, Minnesota at 90 years of age.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.  Preceding Norman in death were his parents, Edwin and Luella Breitenfeldt; siblings: Arlin Breitenfeldt, Harold Breitenfeldt and Judy Quittschreiber; brothers-in-law: Alfred Ziegler, Raymond Ziegler, Jerry Quittschreiber and Allen Rusche; sisters-in-law:  Nadine Ziegler, Arlene Rusche; nephew, Ronald Rusche and niece, Sheila Redemske.

Norman is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Luella Breitenfeldt; son, Rodney Breitenfeldt; 2 grandchildren: John and Angela; many other relatives and a host of friends.
