Alveda Rhude was born on March 19th, 1932, to Charles and Florence (Saphia) Carignan in Poncha Springs Colorado. She graduated high school from Salida Colorado High School on June 2nd, 1950. She was united in marriage to Joseph A Rhude on Sunday the 29th of June 1952. She first met Joe at a Country Club dance in Salida Colorado on January 6, 1952. In 1953 Joe (US Army) was stationed in Frankfurt Germany. Alveda then joined Joe in Germany in October of 1954. Alveda and Joe had 3 sons, Richard, Randolph, and Roger. By the time they moved to Barrett in 1972 they had moved 18 times. But they weren’t done. They moved 5 more time before Joe’s death in 1994. Alveda then moved back to Barrett in 1995. Because of all of her friends in Barrett, she always felt like Barrett was her home.
Alveda was an active member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Barrett. She has also been a member of the Barrett Legion for many years. In 2003 she was voted the Minnesota State Senior Citizens Award. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, canning, painting, playing the piano, and a host of other things that brought her joy.
Alveda was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, parents Charles and Florence Carignan, her brother George, and by her grandson Joey.
Survivors include her 3 sons, Richard (Nora) Rhude of Tucson AZ, Randy (Darla) Rhude of Bosie Idaho, Roger (Marita) Rhude of Hoffman MN, grandchildren Paul, Jason, Corey, Aric, Alicia, Brock, Travis, Christopher (CT), and great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
